Harris said it is common for deputy sheriff's and other sworn officers to respond to medical calls since they are trained in CPR and first aid. He said the agents were close by when the call came out.

Agent D.R. Radford said in a statement as he and Agent D McKeel were assisting EMS inside they each reported the odor of marijuana.

Harris applied for, and was granted, a search warrant for the residence on Camellia Lane.

During the search of the residence a user amount of heroin, nine marijuana plants, plastic pots, red Solo cups, grow lights, a timer and several other items of drug paraphernalia were located.

Harris said the plants, which had been growing for some time, were around 18 inches tall.

Parrish

Radford arrested and charged Raven M. Parrish, 42, of Halifax, with possession of heroin, manufacture marijuana, maintaining a dwelling place for a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

Parrish was also served an outstanding order for arrest, and received a $5,500 bond with a March 23 court date.

He also obtained warrants on Ronald D. Staton, 45, of Halifax, for the same charges as Parrish.

Harris confirmed Staton, with whom county narcotics agents have had run-ins in the past, was the person taken to the hospital.

The captain confirmed Staton is doing OK. He will be served the warrants at a later date.
