A Roanoke Rapids man who already has court dates in Halifax County faces charges in Northampton County for the breaking and entering of Gaston Market earlier this month.

Sergeant Thomas Staton of the Gaston Police Department said Anthony Logan Childers, 25, faces charges of injury to real property, felony larceny and felony breaking and entering after his arrest on December 15.
Staton said Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Detective Matt Brown was instrumental in helping Gaston solve the December 7 break-in at Gaston Market.
Childers has a January 23 superior court date in Halifax County for financial theft and identity theft; a February 3 district court date for driving while impaired and marijuana counts and a January 16 court date for possession of stolen goods.
His Northampton County court date on the Gaston charges has not been set, according to state court records.
Staton said the Gaston Market break-in began when one of two people threw a brick through the window of the store, which is located at 136 Roanoke Rapids Road.
Entry was gained through the window and once inside 32 cartons of Newport cigarettes were taken; 10 sleeves of White Owl cigars were taken and 10 cases of Natural Light beer were taken.
An inside window was broken to gain access to the office but it did not appear anything was taken, Staton said.
Gaston police have a second person of interest in the case and more charges are pending.
Staton said the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office and Roanoke Rapids Police Department also assisted.
