The Roanoke Rapids High School girls tennis team traveled to Lasker, NC to face off against the Eagles from Northeast Academy bringing home the win 8-1, Monday August 22.

Beginning the match with doubles, the Jackets came out with a 2-1 lead heading into singles.

#1 Sarah-Kate Ricks and Harley Pierce (NA) defeated Kara Baird and Emma Snead 8-6.

#2 Reagan Mitchell and Savannah Medlin (RR) defeated ArlandDavis and Lena Taylor 8-1.

#3 Laura Pridgen and Ivy Wells (RR) defeated Kiersta Flytheand Madison Dallas 8-1.

The Jackets continued their winning ways, taking all six singles matches 6-0 and the overall match 8-1. 

#1 Mitchell (RR) defeated Ricks 6-1, 6-3. 

#2 Snead (RR) defeated Pierce 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 10-3 in a decisive third set tiebreaker.

#3 Baird (RR) defeated Davis 6-1, 6-3.

#4 Medlin (RR) defeated Taylor 6-1, 6-2.

#5 Pridgen (RR) defeated Flythe 6-3, 6-1.

#6 Wells (RR) defeated Dallas 6-0, 6-1.

Jackets players Natalie Baker and Emily Hantz also picked up wins in exhibition matches for both singles and doubles.

The Jackets (2-0) will face the Red Rams of Franklinton High School in their next match Tuesday, August 23 at the T.J. Davis Recreation Center tennis courts. Play starts at 3:30pm.
