The Halifax Academy Lady Vikings softball team went 1-1 on Friday night's Halifax opener softball tournament at Chockeyotte Park.

The 0-1 Host lady Vikings opened the tournament with a 12-3 win over the Southampton Acadmey Raiders.

Halifax Academy Vikings fired up the offense in the first inning. Berkley Garner drove in one when Garner singled. The Lady Vikings notched five runs in the fourth inning. Halifax put the pressure on, lead by an error on a ball put in play by Garner and Ashton Knight, a triple by Alexus Roundtree, a single by Ashlyn Cooke, and a double by Victoria Wilson.
 
Garner earned the win for Halifax lasting five innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out two and walking one.
 
Halifax Academy racked up 15 hits on the day. Morgan Hudomint, Roundtree, Hayden Barlow, Cooke, and Wilson all collected multiple hits for the Lady Vikings. Roundtree and Hudomint each collected three hits to lead Halifax Academy.
 
 
 
In game two of the night, Halifax Academy watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in an 11-1 loss to Roanoke Rapids High school Lady Yellow Jackets.
 
Roanoke Rapids scored four runs in the first inning. Halifax Academy struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Roanoke Rapids high school, giving up 11 runs.
 
Ashlyn Cooke took the loss for Halifax Academy Varsity Vikings. The hurler lasted five and a third innings, allowing 11 hits and 11 runs while striking out five and walking one.
 
Victoria Wilson, Hayden Barlow, Morgan Hudomint, and Ashton Knight each collected one hit to lead Halifax Academy.
