The Roanoke Rapids High School Varsity Yellow Jackets softball team defeated the Granville Central Panthers 12-2 thanks to a strong start Tuesday evening.

The Lady Jackets scored on an passed ball during Karlee Hammack's at bat and an error in the first inning.

Roanoke Rapids scored five runs in the second inning. Hammack, Makayla Pair, and Meredith Wilson all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

Logan Storey got the win for Roanoke Rapids. The ace went five innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out six.

C Yancy was in the pitcher's circle for Granville Central. The hurler lasted four innings, allowing seven hits and 12 runs.

Roanoke Rapids tallied seven hits on the day. Alexia Coley and Lauren Garner each had multiple hits for the Yellow Jackets. Garner and Coley all had two hits to lead Roanoke Rapids.

Coley led Roanoke Rapids with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with six stolen bases.

Yancy led Granville Central with two hits in two at bats.
