Roanoke Rapids Yellow Jackets Varsity Claims Lead in Sixth Inning to Defeat Vance County

Roanoke Rapids Yellow Jackets Varsity ran off with the lead late in the game in a 10-5 victory over Vance County on Thursday. The game was tied at five with Roanoke Rapids Yellow Jackets Varsity batting in the top of the sixth when Meredith Wilson laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring one run.

Roanoke Rapids Yellow Jackets Varsity earned the victory despite allowing Vance County to score four runs in the third inning. The offensive onslaught by Vance County was led by Kyra Mitchell and Jasmine Richardson, all driving in runs in the frame.

Roanoke Rapids Yellow Jackets Varsity captured the lead in the second inning when a sacrifice bunt by Kelsey Bierbauer scored one run for Roanoke Rapids Yellow Jackets Varsity.

Cassidy Dickens got the win for Roanoke Rapids Yellow Jackets Varsity. She went seven innings, allowing five runs on seven hits and walking one.

Rielly Wortham took the loss for Vance County. She went seven innings, allowing ten runs on 11 hits, striking out five and walking one.

Curtis led the way with two.

Kierra Gray led Vance County with three hits in four at bats.
