Will children be able to play youth sports this 2020 summer.

Since NC Governor Cooper issued Executive Order No. 116 which declared a State of Emergency to coordinate the State's response and protective actions to address the Coronavirus Disease 2019 ("COVID-1 9") public health emergency and provide for the health, safety, and welfare of residents and visitors located in North Carolina all youth sports have been on hold.

But as North Carolina began phase 2 of Governor Roy Cooper’s COVID-19 plan under Executive Order 141 shelter at home has been lifted and so has some restrictions. Roanoke Rapids area 2020 Summer youth sports have been been on hold as well.

Since all of the Summer league sports are privately ran by organizations RRspin has reached out to area leagues for their status.

The Roanoke Valley Girls softball League is scheduled to have a June meeting to discuss their season plans, while the Roanoke Rapids Youth Baseball Association has plans to start playing in June and are discussing their procedures to have a season.

Looking Up Sports T-Ball at Good News Baptist church has cancelled their season, while the Optimist Club is still hoping to get their 2020 season started in June or July.

The Roanoke Valley Swim team is in the process of starting their season in June as well.
