Dennis “DJ” Jones Jr. a Sports Management major at Lake Erie College and Dre’ Terry an Engineering major at East Carolina University has founded their own football camp.

The two former Roanoke Rapids High School football players joined forces once again and came back to their old practice field to give back to their community this past Saturday. The purpose of this camp was to share some skills they’ve picked up while playing football on a collegiate level with Roanoke Valley 12-17 years old youths for free.

The only requirement that the campers had to fulfill was to just show up with a desire to sharpen their skills. The “DJ & Dre’ 1st Annual Football Camp” was nothing less than successful. With twenty people in attendance the two founders only hope the numbers continue to increase throughout the years.

At the completion of the camp recognition was given to three standouts:

Chicar Ward kept pushing all day earning him the hardest worker award.

Isaiah Robinson’s natural talent was obvious to see allowing him the grab the most talented award and with his incredible performance amongst the campers

Chris Ward was named MVP of the camp.

DJ & Dre’ would like to thank CIAA’s top D2 QB in the nation Bryce Witt and Tyrell Govan a two time all conference high school player for assisting with the campers and everyone else who supported their vision.
