While most high school teams were busy practicing on Hump Day Wednesday, the Weldon High School Chargers and the Roanoke Rapids High School Yellow Jackets were hitting the hardwood at Weldon High.

In the boys JV game the first quarter demonstrated a lot of what has been happening at practices. Both squads were on point with their defense and offense ending the quarter with Weldon leading 15-13 and then going into halftime leading at 25-22. However something happened in the locker room that gave the JV Chargers a little push and they ended up winning by a score of 78-45.

For the varsity ladies contest the Yellow  Jackets proved that they came to play ball playing toe to toe with the Chargers. After somehow finding their sync, the Chargers pulled away for a 64-35 win.

In varsity boys game. the final contest of the evening, the Yellow Jjackets were not able to get the shots that they needed and struggled on defense. The Chargers were able to execute their skills and finish the night with a 76-37 win.

The Chargers will visit the Vikings of Northwest Friday night.
