On Friday April 19, the Roanoke Rapids High School Baseball Team gathered in the school's Media Center to celebrate three team members as they made their commitments to play college baseball next year.

Maddox Bullock committed to Randolph-Macon College, while Shep Fowler and Wil White committed to North Carolina Wesleyan University.  The three young men chose to make their commitments official together in front of their families, friends, and teammates.  "The fact that these guys wanted to celebrate together says a lot about who they are as players and people.  They are friends on and off the field and always have a team first mentality.  I am so proud of these guys.  It makes a coach happy to see their players reach their goals.  Whether it is getting the job they want, getting into the college they want, or in this case getting a chance to play ball at the next level, there is nothing better for a coach.", said Coach Mark Snead.

Maddox Bullock, who has played infield, catcher, and pitcher for RRHS, is excited for his chance to play at Randolph Macon.  He said, "It feels awesome to have a chance to play in college. All the work and time me and my family has spent traveling to games practices has finally paid off.  I would like to thank God. There’s no way I would be in this position without the abilities he gave me and the path he has planned for me. I would also like to thank my parents and family. There's no way I could do this without all the time they spent to make this happen and the sacrifices they made. I would also like to thank my coaches and teammates because I couldn’t do this without them."

Shep Fowler, who has played infield and pitcher for RRHS, looks forward to the opportunity to play at NC Wesleyan.  He said, "I want to thank God, my family, and all my coaches along the way.  I couldn't have had this chance without them.  All the hard work, practice, and time at the field has paid off.  I am so thankful for my teammates who have always been there for me too.  This is a dream come true.  I am so excited to get to play baseball in college."

Wil White, who has played outfield for RRHS, is happy to get the chance to play at NC Wesleyan.  He said, "There are so many people to thank for this.  I want to thank God, my family, my teammates, and my coaches at every level.  Without them I would not be in this position.  Through the ups and downs they have been there every step of the way to push and motivate me.  I am so happy to have this opportunity to play ball at the next level."
