The Roanoke Rapids High School Yellow Jackets Varsity team traveled to South Granville on Tuesday night and came away with a 13-2 win over the Vikings.

AJ Strickland pitched the complete Jackets game victory striking out 6 batters over the 6 innings.

 

Leading hitters for Roanoke Rapids were Jon Lewis Temple with 3 hits (including a 2 run homerun over the left field fence) with 3 RBI, Austin Geary with 3 hits (2 doubles) and 1 RBI, Caleb Elias with 2 hits, AJ Strickland with 2 hits (double) and 3 RBI, Matthew MacNichol with 2 hits (double), Josh Coker with 2 hits, Drew Williams with 2 hits and 1 RBI, Josh Miller with 2 hits, and Maddox Bullock with 2 hits (triple) and 4 RBI.

 

Coach Mark Snead stated, "We played a good game tonight.  AJ threw really well and our defense stepped up behind him.  Our offense came alive and we had hits from 1 through 9 in our lineup.  I am proud of the guys tonight.  Now we look to keep building on this and get better each game."

 

With the win the Yellow Jackets improve to 5-0 overall and in the Northern Carolina Conference. 

 

RRHS will now host South Granville on Friday night as part of a JV/Varsity doubleheader.  The JV game will start at 4pm with the Varsity game to follow.
