Roanoke Rapids All-stars advance to Championship bracket play

The Roanoke Rapids Youth Baseball Association (RRYBA) 2019 12U ENC State Champions advance to Saturday's 2019 Cal-Ripken Southeast Regional 12U Major 70 tournament Championship bracket.

Thursday nights rain moved the host team Roanoke Rapids All-star team to play two games Friday in the very Hot weather.

In game one Friday at 11AM, the Roanoke Rapids team faced the Winter Park Florida team.

Roanoke Rapids Yellow Jackets 12U Outdone by Winter Park, 5-0

A single by Seth Tickel in the fourth inning was a positive for Roanoke Rapids team.

Tickel toed the rubber for Roanoke Rapids team surrendering one run on one hit over two innings. Ayden Brantley and Carson Duncan entered the game as relief, throwing one and two-thirds innings and one and one-third innings respectively.

Tickel, Will White, Collin Ellias each collected one hit to lead Roanoke Rapids.

In game two it was win or go home for the Roanoke Rapids All-star team who were facing the Laurenburg All-star team.

The Roanoke Rapids Yellow Jackets 12U All-stars clinches the lead in fifth inning for the victory over Laurinburg All Stars and advance to Saturday's Championship Bracket play.

The Roanoke Rapids Yellow Jackets defeated Laurinburg All Stars 7-5 on Friday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at five with Roanoke Rapids batting in the bottom of the fifth when Avery Garner tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Laurinburg All Stars scored three runs in the fifth inning, but Roanoke Rapids still managed to pull out the victory. Laurinburg All Stars scored its runs on a passed ball.

Gannon DeBerry led things off on the hill for Roanoke Rapids surrendering five runs on five hits over five innings, striking out ten and walking zero.

Roanoke Rapids racked up eight hits in the game. DeBerry and Garner each managed two hits to lead the Roanoke Rapids All-star team.
