Lloyd A. “Sonny” Ivey

Sonny Ivey of Roanoke Rapids, NC lost his battle with heart failure and the angels took him home to be with his loving wife on February 6, 2021 with his loving children and grandchildren by his side.  

Sonny was born November 22, 1942 and was a Veteran of the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. 

Preceded in death by his wife, Adrienne C. Ivey; Father, James O. Ivey and Son, Patrick Groves.  

Sonny left to carry on his special traits: David S. Groves (wife Terri) of Rocky Mount, NC; Gay Groves Parrish (husband Keith) of Faison’s Old Tavern, NC; and Jennifer A. Byrum (husband Joey) of Pleasant Hill, NC; his mother, Virginia Mae Ivey of Roanoke Rapids; his brother, Jim Ivey of Emporia VA and his sister Betty Studley (husband Dennis) of Crystal Lake, IL; 12 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.  He also left a special companion Doris Lyles, of the home. 

A celebration of life service will be held at Wrenn, Clark and Hagen Funeral Home in Roanoke Rapids, NC at 11:00 am on Tuesday February 9, 2021 with Rev. Don Causey officiating and special music by Rev. Ricky and Denise Barnes.  

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service starting at 10:00 am at the funeral home. The service will continue Graveside in Cedarwood Cemetery with Military Honors and special music by Gordon Hodge.  

For the safety of all participants, social distancing and masks will be required.
