Harry Harding, 92, died Monday, January 4, 2021, at Vidant North Hospital.

A native of Emporia, Harry was the son of the late Joseph J. and Gladys Harding. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years Jeanne, a brother Joe Harding, and a step son, Allen Keith Barnes.

Harry graduated from the Georgia Military Academy in 1945, then Washington and Lee University in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. 

He then enrolled in MIT, where he graduated in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. 

Harry and Jeanne were owner operators of Industrial Distributors in Roanoke Rapids for 45 years. 

Harry was an avid golfer and a Private Pilot, a longtime member of AOPA (Airplane Owners and Pilots Association), and was listed in the Who’s Who of Industry and Finance in 1983/1984. Harry was a longtime devoted member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Halifax.

Harry is survived by his sons; Steve Harding and his wife Shirley, of Orlando Fl, Jim Harding and his wife Marilyn of Raleigh, Jeff Harding of Shannon NC, step son; Kent Barnes, daughter; Patti Suggs of Raleigh, step daughter; Katherine Barnes Heimbuch and her husband Tim of Colonial Heights VA, grandchildren; Kylee Horton and her husband Tommy, Hunter Harding and his wife Lacy, Susan Johnson, Graham Harding and his wife Maggie, Beth Jones, Will Suggs, Sam and Scott Harding, Tiffany Heimbuch, Kendra Tucker and her husband Ryan, Kallie Barnes, great-grandchildren; Ayden and Wade Morris, Lawsen Tucker, Ellie Johnson, Mali and Zep Suggs.

Private Graveside Services will be held in Emporia Cemetery, Emporia VA, with Rev. Ben Duffey officiating.
