Rachel Blackham Dean, 91, died Sunday, September 13, 2020, at her residence.

A native of Wilmington, NC, Rachel was the daughter of the late Thomas Blackham and Jane Aloysius Knowles Blackham. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Phipps Dean, and by her brother and six sisters. 

Rachel was a longtime member of Rosemary United Methodist Church, a retired homemaker and hairdresser who loved bowling and especially the beach.

Rachel is survived by her children; Bradford Phipps Dean and his wife Jennifer, of Wilmington, David Blackham Dean and his wife Carol of Roanoke Rapids, and Rhetina Frazier Dean, of Wilmington, grandchildren; Matthew Phipps Dean, Zachary Raye Dean, Bryan Hays Dean, and Alexandria Clark Dean.

Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Cedarwood Cemetery with Rev. Steve McElroy officiating. We ask that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, those attending practice social distancing and wear masks as precautions.

A special thanks is given to her caregivers.
