Margaret Rackley Phillips, age 77, passed away at her home in Halifax, NC on Sunday June 7, 2020. 

She was the daughter of Elizabeth Tyson and Will H. Rackley of Smithfield, NC.

Margaret graduated from Smithfield High School in 1960. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art Education from Meredith College in 1964.

After teaching school and working at Historic Halifax State Historic Site for 30 years she retired.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 13, 2020, at 11:00 AM, in the Chapel of Wrenn Clarke and Hagan Funeral and Cremation Service, with Rev. Tim Jones officiating.

She is survived by her husband R. Douglas Phillips, her daughter Christa P. Devitt and husband Eric, her son Scott Phillips and wife Jennifer; her Grandchildren: Margaret Devitt, Seth Phillips and Ty Phillips, her Sister Ann Rackley Kilian of Warren County, her sister-in-law Thea Rackley of Garner, NC.
