Janice Newsome Wheeler, 63, died Friday, February 7, 2020 at her home with her loving husband by her side after a lengthy illness. 

A native of Halifax County, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert Carl Newsome and Helen Lee Cannon Newsome. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Phillip Stephenson and her brother, Billy Newsome. Janice was a retired waitress, a hard worker who loved her family and helping others.

Janice is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Wilson Wheeler, her daughter, Melissa Wade of Norfolk, VA, her sons, Michael Finney and Archie Stephenson, a brother, Frank Newsome and his wife Teresa of Franklin, VA, her sister, Patricia Newsome of Nashville, NC, grandchildren, Brandon Wade, Samantha Newsome, Jamie Wade, Skyler Finney, Destiny Finney, and Brittney Stephenson, eight great grandchildren, four nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Wrenn Clarke and Hagan Funeral and Cremation Service Chapel with Dr. Dennis Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in Old Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until Service time at the Funeral Home.
