Ann Charles Horne leapt into the arms of Jesus Monday January 5,2020 surrounded by her family.

Annie was preceded in death by her parents Hugh J. Horne Jr. and Ann Sledge Harris Horne. Left to mourn her passing are her husband Eugene St.Clair, brothers Hugh J. Horne III and Albert Hunt Horne, sister Libby Horne, nephew Jarvis A. Horne, niece Allison Nicole Horne, her macaw Galileo and her two rescue dogs Stella and Orson.

Annie was born February 19, 1960 in Roanoke Rapids. She was educated in Roanoke Rapids Schools and North Carolina State University. She acquired a Juris Doctorate degree from Carolina Central University. 

Ann relocated to Houston, Texas where she met her husband Gene. She went on to reside in Bermuda and New York before returning to Roanoke Rapids where she operated Roanoke Porta – Johns with Gene until her death. 

She served the citizens of Roanoke Rapids as a member of the Planning Board and was a strong advocate for business serving on the Board of Directors at the Lake Gaston Chamber of Commerce. 

Annie was an accomplished artist who loved animals. She raised many rescue dogs. She enjoyed blue water sailing having crossed the Atlantic Ocean twice. She will be profoundly missed by her many friends and colleagues.

Reverend Pius Wakesa performed a memorial mass at St. John the Baptist Church on January 10. 

A celebration of Annie’s life will be held at a future date.
