Samuel Lewis Birdsong, Sr., died Tuesday, December 24, 2019, at his residence 
with his family by his side. 

A native of Northampton County, he was the son of the late Lewis Birdsong and 
Louise Harris Birdsong. Sammy was also preceded in death by his sister, Barbara 
Turner.

 A United States Army Vietnam Veteran, he was a retired carpenter and a 
longtime Member of Calvary Baptist Church. 

Sammy is survived by his loving wife of 52 years; Linda Odom Birdsong, his sons; 
Sam Birdsong and his wife Shannon and Jody Birdsong and his wife Tracy, sisters; 
Faye Dickens and her husband Pete, Alice Connie, and Hazel Stallings, 
Grandchildren; Cody and Dylan Birdsong, Lyndsay Wolfe, and Katie Birdsong, and 
his special friends Cliff Stegall and Jimmy McClung. 

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at 
Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Andy Sloan and Rev. Randy Martin officiating. 
Burial, with Military Honors, will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will 
receive friends from 10:00 A. M. until 10:45 A.M. at the Church. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 1405 Bolling 
Road, Roanoke Rapids, NC, 27870.
