William Gerald “Jerry” Patterson, 72, of Henrico, died March 12, 2026, after suffering a heart attack at his home on Lake Gaston.

Jerry, a native of Grove City, PA, graduated from the University of Richmond, where he met his wife, Fanny Belle Blake of Emporia, VA. 

After his graduation from paralegal school in Atlanta, the couple lived in St. Petersburg, FL, where Jerry became a specialist in property law. 

They later moved to Richmond, where he worked as a paralegal handling property matters. Jerry retired from Sun Trust Bank in Richmond after developing information technology systems for mortgages following the 2008 real estate crisis. 

After retiring, the couple relocated to Lake Gaston, updating a fishing cottage the Blake family had built on the lake.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Belle; and his parents, William G. Patterson and Betty John Maness Patterson of Grove City, PA.

Jerry is survived by his two daughters, Sarah Monroe of Amelia Courthouse, VA; and Blake Parker (Bob) of Baltimore, MD; three grandchildren, William James Macon Monroe, Annabelle Rose Scarlet Monroe, and Austin Taylor Monroe Jr.; and a brother, Dennis Patterson of Knightdale, NC.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 19, at 2 pm, at Wrenn Funeral Home, 1015 West 5th St. Roanoke Rapids, NC. 

A visitation will be held from 12 until 2 pm prior to the funeral service. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Stoneboro, PA, at a later date.
