Jason “JD” Dale Denton, 52, passed away at his home surrounded by his wife and family early Friday morning, May 19, 2023, after a battle with cancer.  

Jason “JD” was born February 19, 1971, in Roanoke Rapids to William David Denton and Peggy Broughton Baines. 

After high school graduation, he served his country in the Navy. He became a field service engineer repairing large equipment. He was an employee of Trumpf working as a consultant.  JD was a fan of Duke Basketball, Redskins Football, and Nascar Racing. 

JD enjoyed cooking on his grill and spending time with his family and friends. He and Mindy enjoyed traveling in their 16 years of marriage.

Jason is survived by his parents; his loving and devoted wife, Mindy Fridley Denton; the proud father of his beloved son, SSG Joshua Denton and his wife Audrey of Roanoke Rapids; his special granddaughter, Nadia Romero Shepard; sister, Aleta Denton McCord; stepsister, Wendy Crawford; brother, Travis Denton; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents and his brother, William (Brent) Denton.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jason’s honor to your local cancer research fund.
