Marshall Phillip Perkins, age 67, of Lake Caroline, VA; originally of Emporia, VA, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025, surrounded by smiles, laughter and loved ones.
He was born on September 24, 1958 in Roanoke Rapids, NC to Hugh Lee Perkins and Ruby Morris Perkins.
Phil shared his life with his devoted partner, Dawn Rosato, and together they built a home filled with laughter, companionship, and countless cherished memories. In his later years, Phil was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s disease, which he faced with quiet strength and unyielding determination — fighting with every stubborn bone in his body. Throughout his illness, Dawn remained steadfastly by his side, honoring his wishes and ensuring he could remain in the comfort of his home, surrounded by family and the life they built together.
He is survived by his partner Dawn; his children, Ashley Henderson (Ken), Austin Perkins (Jessica), Anne Levy (Jake), Lauren Napier, Sydney Pugh (Trevor), and Ethan McPeters; his grandchildren, Reed, Aiden, and Adaline Henderson, Blake Pugh, Eli Perkins, and Bo Levy; and his siblings, his twin brother and partner in fun and antics Gil Perkins (Susan), his devoted sister Mary Perkins (Susan), and Ricky Perkins (Janet). He was preceded in death by his loving parents.
Phil was known for his incredible work ethic and sense of responsibility. He was an early riser — one of the first to arrive and often the last to leave. His dedication and initiative earned him deep respect and lasting friendships with coworkers from all over.
Beyond his work, Phil will be remembered for his gentle spirit, kind heart, and unwavering compassion. He was the textbook definition of a “nice guy” — humble, selfless, and endlessly considerate of others. He carried a quiet wisdom, always choosing kindness, and never speaking ill of anyone.
He found the most joy in his family and the simple pleasures of life — road trips through the mountains, exploring places rich in history, and sharing good conversations with those he loved.
Those closest to him will smile remembering his familiar “two things” — a phrase he used to start a conversation that somehow always led to more than two thoughts — and his nightly ritual of ensuring no dishes were left in the sink.
Phil lived his life guided by gratitude and integrity. He had a deep respect for those who served our country, often paying a veteran’s tab without ever wanting recognition. He leaves behind a legacy of goodness and quiet strength — a reminder of how deeply one man’s kindness can touch so many lives.

Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating the life of Marshall Phillip Perkins on Sunday, November 2 at 3:00 p.m. at Grace Church, 9986 Purdy Rd, Jarratt, VA 23867.

We’ll gather to honor Phil’s life, share stories, and remember the laughter, kindness, and quiet strength that touched so many hearts.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marshall’s memory to Piedmont Search & Rescue (PO Box 1433, Midlothian, VA 23113; piedmontsar.org) or to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (lbda.org) — two organizations that honor his legacy of care, courage, and compassion.
