Nancy Lee Lambert Woodruff, 74, a native of Roanoke Rapids, recently of Marion, NC, died Saturday, February 16, 2019, at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, NC.

She was born October 16, 1944, in Roanoke Rapids, NC.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson K. and Viola Clary Lambert, her brother Kenneth E. Lambert, and her granddaughter Melissa Lee Woodruff.

Survivors include her son, Travis Woodruff and his wife Kristal; grandchildren Christian, Sarah, Samantha, Phoebe, Sophie, and Preslie; sister Joyce Dickens; nephew Dennis Dickens, and several great-grandchildren.

Nancy lived a life filled with friends, family, adventure, and struggle, but no matter the obstacle she always did what she could to endure.  

Her humble view of life was an inspiration to many.  

Her caring heart was ever-present.  

In the face of adversity she had strength and resilience that seemed to know no bounds. “This too will pass…”  “It’s better to laugh than cry…” were not just words she said, they were expressions she lived by.

To those who knew her well, she was a friend, a mother, a grandmother, a confidante, and an inspiration.  She will be remembered well, missed greatly, and loved dearly.

The family will receive friends from 10:00am until 10:45am at Hockaday Funeral Home followed by a Chapel service at 11:00 am, Friday, February 22, 2019 with Pastor Sue Owens presiding.  There will be a graveside committal in Cedarwood Cemetery directly following.

The family wishes to express their sincerest thanks to the staff of Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, NC for their outstanding care and compassion during her final days.
