Ethan Brian Spence, 59, of Roanoke Rapids, died Thursday, September 22, 2022 at ECU North Hospital in Roanoke Rapids.

Ethan was born in Pensacola, Florida on April 13, 1963, the son of Edward Beryl Spence, Sr. and Sylvia Jean Walker Spence, both of whom preceded him in death.  He was also predeceased by his wife, Jeannie Cousins Spence.

Ethan was a 1981 graduate of Weldon High School.  

He liked to hunt and fish, and was a self-proclaimed “pool hustler.”    

Ethan enjoyed working in his garden and spending time in his man shed. He was good at tinkering around and could fix anything. He was also a fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

Survivors include his companion, Shirl Baughan; a daughter, Sarah West; brothers, Beryl Spence, Jimmy Spence and Clifton Handley; sisters, Sheila Spence Freeman and Chanel Spence Hernandez; and two grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, September 26, 2022 from the graveside at Cedarwood Cemetery with Pastor Wayne Marshall presiding.  

Friends may visit with the family following the service.
