Brenda Coates Wilson, daughter of the late lvan Ray Coates and Dorothy Carlile Coates, was born November 30, 1948.  

She was a resident of Roanoke Rapids for most of her life and passed away at home with family at the age of 73 on Saturday, September 17, 2022.

Brenda was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  

While Brenda spent many years in real estate as an agent at Willkie Real Estate, she transitioned into real estate appraisals, opening her own business, Wilson Appraisal Service, in 1991. 

Brenda was known for her love of animals and rescued many throughout the years.   

She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, June W. Boseman and brother-in-law, Tommy Freuler.

She is survived by V. Barry Wilson, her loving husband of 53 years and her two sisters and brother-in-law: Rita Freuler; Elaine Moore (and husband, Garry Moore); and Terry Wilson (and wife, Susan Wilson) and many nieces and nephews.  

Her life was blessed by two children, Scott Wilson (and wife, Angie Wilson) and Holly N. Wilson (and partner, Brian Mullis) and a dear friend she loved like a daughter, Lisa V. Clippard (and husband, John Clippard).     

She had numerous grandchildren:  Elizabeth Keer, Alexa Grace, Brenna Isabella, Marissa Bari, Ethan Verlon and Scott Allen Swindells.  And great-grandchildren: Matthew Bennett Johnston, and Walker and June Swindells.  She had many special friends and relatives including Tameka Harvey.  

The family will hold an outdoor celebration of Brenda’s life at her home located at 31 Anchor Court, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina on Friday September 23,, 2022 at 4:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to Rainbow Animal Rescue of NC to honor her great love of animals.
