Heather Dawn Howell Medlin, 51, of Roanoke Rapids died Thursday August 25, 2022 at ECU North Hospital.

Dawn was born on January 27, 1971 to Steve and Glenda Horne Howell of Halifax County, NC. She worked as a waitress at Logan’s Roadhouse. Dawn was a hard worker. She was a tough, independent person who loved her family, especially her grandbaby.

Ms. Medlin was preceded in death by her parents. 

Survivors include a son, Zach Medlin; a daughter, Faith Medlin; granddaughter, Danielle Myrick; aunts Brenda Horne (Danny), Donna H. Bottoms, Beverly Howell; cousins Bryan Horne (Tina), Todd Horne (Tracie), Angie Howell, Dixie Ann Medlin (Brandon), Parham Dixie Howell (Jessica), Amanda Painter (Bubba), and Greg Howell.

The family will receive friends at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday September 1, 2022. The funeral service for Dawn will be held in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral Service on Friday, September 2, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jamie Taylor officiating. Committal will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery.
