Larry Wayne Morrison, 68, of Harkers Island, N.C. was born the third son of John Wesley and Tempie Pearson Morrison.

His mother’s family has lived in Halifax County, N.C. since colonial times. 

His father, likewise, was a native of Chesterfield County, S.C., whose family migrated from Scotland in 1761.

Larry died at UNC Hospital, Chapel Hill, N.C. on August 20, 2022, with family by his side.

Larry was a 1970 graduate of the newly formed Northwest High School, Halifax County.

He was an on-the-job student of computer technology in the 1970’s. He worked for years as a mainframe specialist for J.P. Stevens Company, Mutual Drug Company, and Durham Technical Institute.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Tempie, and his oldest brother, the Reverend John Edward Morrison.

He is survived b his daughter, Sarah Virginia Morrison-Prickett, and his older brother the Reverend Colonel Charles K. Morrison, of Lake Gaston.

Larry was loved by all who knew him.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M.  Thursday, September 1, 2022, Smith United Methodist Church Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids, N.C., with Rev. Col. Charles K. Morrison officiating.
