It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Garriss Jones announces her passing.   Barbara left her earthly home on July 4th, 2022.  

She was born on September 21, 1950. She was a graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School and attended Fardell Hall College and Halifax Community College thereafter.  

In her early years, Barbara worked as a licensed real estate agent and she was a licensed Cosmetologist.  

She also worked in her stained-glass studio for many years teaching and cultivating her beautiful craft with others.  

Barbara was a gifted artist and her creative flair was not only a reflection of her art but a reflection of her charismatic and infectious personality. 

Barbara was full of life and enjoyed traveling and adventure. In her later years, she enjoyed her farm life that she shared with her many animals and pets that she adored and cared for.  

She was a true free spirit, with an abundance of love and a cherished part of all her family and a friend to many.  

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Marcus Alton Garriss and Lottie Carawan Garriss and her beloved brother Marcus Alton Garriss, Jr. 

She is survived by her best friend and husband, Ernest Earl Jones, Jr., her sisters in law, Leigh Anne Savage and Suzanne Ogletree Garriss, her nephews Haiden Savage, Bryce Savage, Marcus Garriss, III (Michelle), her niece Melissa Garriss Clements(Brent Knight) and her great niece Macey Garriss, great nephews Jarret Williamson, Colin Clements and Mark Jones (Atalee).

A celebration of Barbara’s life will be planned for friends and family at a later date.
