Joseph Don (Joe) Dills, 84, died on Sunday May 29th, 2022.

Joe was born May 19th, 1938, a son of the late Mac and Essie Ledford Dills of Franklin, NC.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Louise Dills Sprinkle, brothers Frank Dills, Barney Dills, Bob Dills, and Jerry Dills, and his daughter-in-law, Dawn Bradford Dills.

Joe is survived by his wife of 63 years Martha Sue Lucas Dills; son Marvin Wayne Dills; brothers Doug Dills and David Dills and his wife Lou; grandson Scott DeBruhl and his fiancee Mary Liverman; great-granddaughter Chloe DeBruhl; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joe served 4 years in the Navy and then worked as a heavy equipment operator, logger, truck driver, and lastly retired from the paper mill when it was still Champion International.  He had a long-time hobby of woodworking and over the last 10 years enjoyed restoring old cars with his son and attending car shows.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday June 1, 2022 at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service.  The funeral service for Mr. Dills will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, June 2, 2022, in the Hockaday Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stanley Samuel officiating.  Joe will be laid to rest at the Hawkins Chapel Cemetery.
