Frances Elizabeth Bryant Ward, 89, of Urbanna, VA gained her angel wings on January 24, 2022 at home surrounded by her family.

Frances was born August 20, 1932 in Middlesex County, VA to the late Arthur W. Bryant and Garnett Thrift Bryant. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Deborah W. Le, and son Alfred Scott Ward. Brothers, AW “Billy” Bryant, Jr. and Jesse Bryant. Sisters Marguerite Wheeler and Lillian Pearson.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 70 years, Fred G. Ward, Jr. Son Steven Lee Ward and his significant other Doris Reid. Brothers Henry J. Bryant, Wesley Bryant, Richard E. Bryant. Sister Barbara Payne. Grandchildren Steven Ward, Jenifer Capps, Carrie Bost, Stephanie Lynch, Amanda Isbell, Will Ward and great grandchildren who were truly blessed to have her as their “Nanny” and a host of nephews, nieces and friends who dearly loved her. 

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was truly beautiful inside and out, had the patience and the sweet temperament of an angel. Her husband Fred quite often spoke of her as his angel on earth. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Frances was touched by her kind spirit and heart. 

She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family, reading and bird watching. She was an active member of Smith United Methodist Church while she lived in Roanoke Rapids serving on many committees and singing in the choir.  

The service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Ward will be held at 11:00 am Monday, January 31, 2022 at Smith United Methodist Church with Pastor Stan Lewis presiding.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
