Susan Hope Twisdale, 56, of Weldon, died Tuesday morning, July 13, 2021 at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham.
Susan was born March 8, 1965 in Halifax County, the daughter of Bland Twisdale and Mary Lee Daniels Twisdale. Her father; step-father, Sonny Jones; grandparents, Mary Etta Tidwell and Woodrow Daniels all preceded her in death.
Susan endured 17 major surgeries during her lifetime as a result of spina bifida. However, being a true fighter, she persevered to lead a full and productive life. She graduated from Weldon High School, and worked as a receptionist for Easter Seals.
Susan is survived by her mother, Mary Lee Twisdale; brothers, Ernest Twisdale (Beverly), Stephen Twisdale, Jess “JJ” Jones; a nephew, Jacob “Jake” Twisdale (Stephanie); her aunt, Gwen Davis (John); as well as a large extended family.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am – 10:45 am Friday at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service, with the memorial service to follow at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Pastor Jeremy Kobernat will preside.
