Mrs. Dean Manning Taylor, 87, of Roanoke Rapids died Wednesday morning, June 2, 2021 at Vidant North Hospital.

Mrs. Taylor was born September 28, 1933 in Warren County.   

Her mother, Ruby; husband, Charles L. Taylor, Sr.; son, Jesse Ray Taylor; and brother, Don Manning all preceded her in death.

She was a member of Harvest Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church, and a volunteer EMT with Gaston Emergency Services.  

A retired fabricator from the textile industry, she worked with JP Stevens and the Bibb companies. Mrs. Taylor spent a number of years sewing flags for the Roanoke Rapids High School Marching Band Color Guard.  

Survivors include her sons, Charles Taylor, Jr. and Andrew Radford; daughters, Sarah Edwards and Pam Taylor; brothers, Frank Manning and Henry Manning; sisters, Tiny Thompson, Dorothy Hux and Louise Tilley; grandchildren, Alice Radford, Chris Taylor, Regina Smith, Wayne Taylor, BrianTaylor and Jesse Aycock; and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 10:50 pm Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Harvest Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the funeral service following at 11:00 am in the church sanctuary.  Pastor Rick Ragan will preside.  Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.

The family offers a special “thank you” to her niece, Domma Mahaffey, for the love and kindness shown to Dean throughout the years.

Arrangements for Mrs. Taylor are under the care of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service.
