Avalene W. Cullom, 93, died at Liberty Commons Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Weldon, NC Sunday, May 16, 2021.

Avalene was born in Nash County, NC, January 13, 1928, daughter to the late Matthew M. and Minnie Dickens Walker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton McRae Cullom and several brothers and sisters.

Surviving are her sons, Mark “Andy” Cullom and wife, Kathy of Johnson City, TN and George “McRae” Cullom and wife, Hilda of Roanoke Rapids; sister, Capatola Thompson of Greensboro, NC and sister-in-law, Anna W. Tritt and husband, Gene, of Roanoke Rapids, NC; 3 grandchildren, Tammy Kidder and husband, Alan, Gina Casper and husband Tony and Holly Jones and husband W.C. Also surviving are 12 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service Wednesday, May 19, 2021 from 6:00- 8:30pm. Rev. Jeremy Kobernat will conduct funeral services Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Victory Baptist Church with interment to follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery.
