Joseph Donald Coyne, Sr., 86, passed peacefully Saturday, February 06, 2021 surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Joe was born, December 11, 1934, in Worcester, Mass., son to the late John Joseph and Irene Hickey Coyne. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, John and James Coyne. 

Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. 

He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. 

Joe retired after 38 years at Champion International. 

He was a long-time member and former deacon of First Christian Church. 

Having been a cancer survivor himself, he was actively involved in The Relay for Life. 

He had many hobbies such as traveling, sports, and the outdoors; however, his most cherished time was spent with family, capturing all their special moments with his camera. 

Survived by his wife of 65 years, Yvonne D. Coyne; son, Joe Coyne Jr. and his wife, Pam, of Roanoke Rapids; daughters, Cindy Tripp and husband, Danny, of Halifax, Renee Humphries and husband, James, of Roanoke Rapids; brother Paul Coyne and wife Pat, of Worcester, Mass.; grandchildren, Lance Humphries, Ryan Humphries (Sherry), Hunter Coyne, Kaitlyn T. Koch (Taylor), Laura Coyne, Alyssa Humphries and Allison Tripp; great grandchildren, Kaylin Humphries and Taryn Humphries. Also remembered by several special nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be private. The family will have a celebration of life to remember Joe at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorial donations be sent, in honor of Joseph Donald Coyne, Sr., to: First Christian Church Building Fund 836 Roanoke Ave. Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to his loving nieces Teresa Cousins and Angela Cox.
