Glenda Case Harris, age 82, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, in Raleigh.

She was born August 14, 1936, to Herbert and Christine Case.  

She was a graduate of William R. Davie and East Carolina University.  Glenda touched many lives as a teacher in the Halifax County School system and she retired in 1991.  

Glenda was also a Girl Scout troop leader, a Sunday school and vacation Bible school teacher and an active member of the United Methodist Women.

Glenda was married to the love of her life J.R. on July 15, 1967. She and J.R. loved to gallivant and see what they could discover.

Glenda was a master of crochet who won a Blue Ribbon at the NC State Fair for her entry of a beautiful christening set. She mastered many other crafts as well and left behind a multitude of supplies.

She loved The Sound of Music, westerns, country gospel, the Blue Ridge Mountains, flea markets and chocolate.  

She fostered a lifelong love of reading in her daughter, Laurie.  

She is preceded in death by her father Herbert C. Case, her mother Christine M. Case and her husband John (J.R.) R. Harris.  

She leaves behind her daughter Laurie Harris Bliga and husband Matt Bliga of Holly Springs, step grandchild Sam Bliga of Virginia, sister Maxine Holloman of Roanoke Rapids and nieces Sharon F. Moore of Roanoke Rapids and Melanie F. Gardner of Fuquay-Varina as well as many extended family members.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Nov 3rd at 2 pm at New Hope United Methodist Church, Roanoke Rapids.  

The family will receive guests after the service in the fellowship hall.  

Donations in Glenda’s name can be made to the Eastern N.C. Alzheimer’s Association.  Memorial gifts honoring Glenda to New Hope UMC or flowers are also appreciated.
