Donna “Speedie” Hobbs Newsome, 55, of Roanoke Rapids passed away Sunday, September 13, 2020 at her home.

Donna was born August 17, 1965 in Richmond, VA to William Hobbs and Linda Campbell Hobbs. 

She was preceded in death by mother, Linda Hobbs; her aunt, Wendy Lucy; her father-in-law, Douglas Newsome.

Donna is survived by her husband of 38 years, Kelvin Newsome; her father, William “Billy” Hobbs; her son, Dustin “Boo Boo” Newsome and his wife Ashley; her daughter, Jessica Mabrey and her husband Brandon; her brother, Roy Glenn Hobbs; her mother-in-law, Betty Newsome all of Roanoke Rapids; her brother-in-law, Rodney Newsome and his wife Joyce of Dinwiddie, VA; her sisters, Delores Nowell and her husband Mark of Roanoke Rapids and Mary Keeter and her husband Charles of Alaska; her grandchildren, Kayla and Bryce Mabrey, Wyatt, Gage and Madilyn Newsome.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 17, 2020 at Victory Baptist Church with Rev. Jeremy Kobernat officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 P.M. Thursday at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service and other times at the home of Jessica and Brandon Mabrey.
