Curtis Ray Carlisle, 77, died Saturday morning, September 28, 2019 in his Darlington area home.

Mr. Carlisle was born June 28, 1942 in Sampson County, the son of Gilbert and Rachel Lillian Williams Carlisle.  

He served four years in the US Navy.  Afterward, he joined Champion Paper, where he retired as a logger / surveyor in the forestry division.   

A devoted and loving family man, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.   He also liked NASCAR racing, and was a fan of Harry Gant.

Survivors include his wife, Bettie Warren Carlisle; sons, Mike Haislip (Shawn) and Jeff Haislip (Teresa); grandchildren, Amber Daniel (Andrew), Miranda Haislip, Reid Haislip (Kelly); nieces and nephews, Kenny Carlisle (Judy), Debra Harris, Tony Carlisle (Rochelle), Corey Carlisle (Mesha).

In addition to his parents, Mr. Carlisle was preceded in death by a son, Gilbert Ray Carlisle, and brothers, William Boyd Carlisle and Jerry Lee Carlisle.

Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Tuesday at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, October 2, 2019 from the graveside at Cedarwood Cemetery in Weldon.

Memorials may be given to the Darlington Volunteer Fire Department, 2611 Hedgepeth Rd,   Halifax, North Carolina 27839.

The family wishes to express their thanks to all the caregivers that provided such good care to Mr. Carlisle; and also to Community Home Healthcare and Hospice for their support and care the past few weeks.
