James Lewis Thacker, Jr., 50, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at Halifax Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Thacker was born February 25, 1962, to James Lewis Thacker, Sr. and Virgie Balmer Thacker, who survive.
He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother. He loved hunting, fishing, four-wheelers, and mud. He loved his three “babies”, “Sandy”, “Rocky”, and “Gizmo”. He worked as a salesman on the road for 30 years.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Kim Thacker, his sons: Chris Thacker and wife, Ashley, of Darlington, Anthony Thacker, and Steven Thacker; his grandchildren: Lucas and Jacob; his sister, Brenda T. Brickhouse and fiancé, Rudy Thompson, of Roanoke Rapids; nieces: Jessica and Erin Brickhouse; great-nieces and nephews, Brook and Steven Pittman; and a number of loving aunts and uncles, family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 2, 2013, in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Randy Martin with burial to follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 1, 2012, from 7 – 8:30 P.M. at the funeral home and other times at the home on Carolina Street.
