Thomas “Tommy” Willis Riggan, a long-time resident of the Aurelian Springs area, died Thursday the 1st  of August at the Hock Family Pavilion Hospice Facility in Durham.

Born on January 30th, 1966 in Greensboro, NC, to the late Thomas Willie Riggan and Paula Rebecca Liles Riggan, Tommy graduated from Halifax Academy in 1984.

Tommy enjoyed spending time with his friends and held a passion for his community. His greatest joy was in caring for his mother in the final years of her life. 

Tommy is survived by his companion, Sandy Lynn Barfield, her children, Colton Barfield and Amber Barfield, her grandchildren, Payton Barfield and Bryceson Barfield & their mother Krissy Aycock , sister,  Ashley Riggan Furman & husband Corey Delbert Furman, cousin, Allison Smith Atkins, cousin, Charles “Tres” Durwood Smith III, nephews, James Clement Furman II and John Liles Furman.

The memorial service to celebrate Tommy’s life will be held at Tabor United Methodist Church on Sunday, August 4th at 3:00 PM.
