Arnold Ray Hux, 78, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 21, 2019 at his home.

Ray was born April 20, 1941 in Halifax County to the late Haywood James Hux and Francis Gertrude Gurganus Hux. He was also preceded in death by his three brothers, James Alton Hux, Curtis Bradford Hux and Steve Hux; his sister, Portia Faye Hux Shaw.

Ray was a faithful servant to his Lord and Savior, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Ray was a member of the Roanoke Rapids Church of God where he served many years on the church board. Ray was an avid fisherman, was also known as the collard man, because of his great collards, he also took great pride in keeping a well manicured yard.

Ray is survived by his wife of sixty years, Ginger Hux, his daughter, Pam Turner and her husband Donny of Weldon; his son, Tim Hux and his wife Judi of Gaston; his granddaughter, Leanna Turner Hine and her husband Jon of Raleigh; and his great-granddaughter, Audrey Grace Hine; a special family friend, Virginia Gupton and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at the Roanoke Rapids Church of God with Pastor Jerry Waters and Pastor Timothy Dean officiating. Burial will follow in Old Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at the church.
