Janice Elizabeth Morgan, 82, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. Born on June 29, 1943, in Welch, WV.
Janice lived a life defined by faith, love, kindness, and devotion to her family.
She was the beloved daughter of the late Wayne Burbridge Curry and Dixie Maxine Curry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Leisha Kay Riley; her brothers Teddy Columbus Curry, Marvin Kenneth Curry, and Wayne Franklin Curry; her sister Karen Sue Miller and her son-in-law Bill Butler.

Janice leaves behind her devoted husband, Charles “Pete” Morgan, whom she loved dearly. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother whose life revolved around the people she cherished most. Her family meant everything to her, and her unwavering faith and relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, were the foundation of the way she lived, loved, and cared for others every day.
She is also survived by her siblings Howard Grady Curry (Manchal Curry), Otis Randall Curry (Teresa Curry), and Bonnie Kay Midgett. Her children who will forever cherish her memory include Elizabeth Ann Butler, Marilyn Diane Morgan, Connie Morgan Melton (Troy Melton), and William Craig Morgan (Staci Morgan) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Janice’s legacy continues through her 15 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren, all of whom brought tremendous pride and happiness to her life.
She will be remembered for her compassionate heart and the sacrificial love she showed to others. Janice was always willing to give her time, love, and attention to anyone in need. Whether family, friends, or strangers, she made people feel cared for, valued, and loved.
Though life will never be the same with her passing her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of her Savior. Their faith in Jesus Christ and the promise of one glorious reunion in Heaven gives them peace, comfort, and strength in the days ahead. Her love, faith, and immeasurable light she brought into this world will continue to live through the many people she touched.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 10:50 AM on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service in Roanoke Rapids. A Funeral Service will follow, beginning at 11:00 AM with Rev. Danny Jones officiating. A reception will be held following the service in the reception room.
