Betty Jane Moore, “Mousie”, met Jesus the morning of September 22nd, 2025 at the age of 76 in her home surrounded by family.
She was a native of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. She was a much loved daughter, mother, wife and grandmother.
Jane was born on November 24, 1948 at Greenville Air Force Base in Greenville, South Carolina to Staff Sargent James Lester Jones Sr. and Eula Capps Jones as the second of their five children.
As an Air Force dependent, Betty moved frequently during her childhood before her father was reassigned to the Roanoke Rapids Air Force Station.
Betty Jane graduated from William R. Davie High School as a part of the Class of 1966.
Betty Jane Moore was preceded in death by her father, mother, sisters Brenda Butts and Bonnie Massey, daughter-in-law Wanda Keener and her husband Tom Moore.
She is survived by her brothers Bobby (and wife Edna) and Jimmy Jones, her children Darryl Keener (Wendy), Sharon Johnson (Ed), Laura Raymond (Rick) and Olivia Mead (Mark). She is also survived by her grandchildren Adrienne Powell (Michael), Ricky Raymond, Terry Barham, Beth Spangler (Austin), Chris Bryant (Desiree), Kyle Keener, Brooke May (Dusty), Kelsey Proctor (Michael), Jacob Mead, Jackie Raymond, Christian Mead and Noah Mead as well as her great grandchildren Ryleigh Powell, Addi May, Gunnar May, Paisley Proctor, Gracelyn Barham and Raelynn Powell.
Her favorite times were spent around family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved each one of them in her own special way. They remained her greatest joy. Each grandchild was always greeted with a smile, a hug and a nickname.
She always had a special place for her nieces and nephews.
Betty Jane was a devout follower of Jesus throughout her life, one of her favorite ways to worship was singing as a part of her church choir. Sundays after church were continually followed by food on the table and fellowship amongst family. Her servant heart was seen in many ways of her life during her walk with Jesus.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, September 25th at 3:00 pm, visitation at 2:00 pm, located at Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she was a member, 163 Driftwood Lane Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
The service will be conducted by Reverend Wayne Marshall and Bobby Jones. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church.
