Howerton Chester Finch, Jr., 57, of Roanoke Rapids passed away Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Rich Square Nursing Center.

Jr. was born January 29, 1962 in Halifax County to Howerton C. Finch, Sr. and the late Gertrude Snowdean Eason Finch. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Timmy Finch.

He loved hunting and fishing. Jr. was tough as nails, but had a tender heart, He would help anybody that needed help. Jr. loved fried chicken, pork skins and rippled chips. Thanksgiving and Christmas were his favorite holidays because he made the rounds to everybody’s house to eat.

Jr. is survived by his father, Howerton C. Finch, Sr. of Weldon; his children, Anthony Finch of Wilmington, Michael Ogburn and Troy Ogburn; his brothers, Gene Finch and Mike Finch; his sisters, Angela Wright and her fiance Phillip and Priscilla Edwards and her husband Dennis all of Roanoke Rapids; his nieces and nephews, Melissa, Joy, Samantha, Tina, Jacob and Wayne; his great nieces and nephews, Kayla, Kyra, Kaelyn, Paisleigh, Bryson, Jadon and Liam.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 17, 2019 in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Weldon, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:30 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.
