Margaret Leigh Pruden Colson, 89, of Rich Square, NC transitioned to heaven surrounded by beloved family members on Monday December 12th, 2022. 

She was a native of Northampton County and the daughter of the late William Garland Pruden and Sarah Leigh Vick Pruden. 

She was also preceded in death by her husband William Lee Colson, and two sons, William Lee Colson, Jr. and Garland Thomas Colson.

Margaret loved her family and her community, and especially her six great-grand babies who added such joy to her life. 

She loved walking every day, being outside, and her church, Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. 

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Colson Smith and husband, Rob of Virginia Beach, VA; her son, Greg Colson and wife, Gail of Conway; her nine grandchildren: Leslie Smith of Oakland, CA. Rachel Smith of Virginia Beach, VA., Chase Colson and wife Leann of Bethel, NC, Brooke Colson of Greenville, NC, Greg Colson Jr and wife, Hilary of Winterville, NC, Justin Colson and wife, Kayla of Davidson, NC, and Lauren Colson of Jackson, NC; her six great grandchildren: Emmitt Colson, Lachlyn Colson, Adelaide Colson, Leo Colson, Luca Colson and Ryleigh Bissette.

She is also survived by Debbie Robbins and the late Marvin Colson who considered her their “bonus Mom.” Also loved by her were her former daughter-in-law Pam Riddick and husband Tim; Chase and Thomas Riddick whom she also thought of as her grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 16, 2022 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Godwin and Rev. Keith Thompson officiating. 

Burial will follow in Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Rich Square. 

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Mt Carmel Baptist Church, P.O. Box 487, Jackson, NC 27845. 

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:30-8:00 at Askew Funeral Services, Jackson Chapel.
