Lois Beatty Mizell, 75, of Roanoke Rapids, NC passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in 1947 to the late Ernest William and Fannie Phillips Beatty and was preceded in death by her sisters, Edna Delatte and Emma Ruth Brewer and her brother, Buck Beatty.

Lois was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she helped and served with Operation Christmas Child. She loved gardening, baking, cooking for family and friends, and she loved traveling and enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends.

Lois is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, James “Frankie” Mizell; her daughters, Angie Spence and her husband, Dean, Penney Mizell-Brooks and her husband, Byron; her grandchildren, Daniel Spence and his wife, Nikie, Jacob Spence and his wife, Amanda, Nicholaus Brooks and Max Brooks; her great-grandchild Noah Denton and her great-grand baby Spence coming in March 2023; also surviving is her sister, Joyce Tomlin; her special nieces, Sherry High, Carrie Holland and Ginger Beatty and many other special nieces and nephews as well as her special neighbor, Shannon Bradley.

The family would like to thank the staff of Liberty Commons Rehab and WakeMed Rehab for the excellent care and compassion shown to Lois and the family.

Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at 2pm in the Chapel of Askew Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Randy Martin officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like for donations to be made to Liberty Commons Activity Department, 101 Caroline Ave. Weldon, NC 27890.
