Rebecca Lucille “Sissie” Kidd, 79, died Monday, December 31, 2018, at Magnolia Gardens in Roanoke Rapids.

Mrs. Kidd was born in Halifax County, August 25, 1939, daughter of the late Clement Bryan and Clyde Carpenter Kidd. She was a 1957 Graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School where she was voted homecoming Queen. Mrs. Kidd traveled the world with her husband, Lt. Col. James L. Kidd, who retired from the United States Army as a helicopter pilot. She was also a life-long member of First Christian Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kidd was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. James L. Kidd (Retired) and her sister, Faye Kidd Archer.

Surviving are her daughter, Jami R. White and husband, David of Lexington, TN; son, Kevin T. Kidd and Heather Todaro of Wake Forest; three grandchildren, Collin Kidd, Wesley White and Tucker White; three nieces, Pam A. Dickerson and husband, Kenney, of Roanoke Rapids, Tobi Nester and husband, Matt, of Wilson and Jennifer Brugos of South Hill, VA; two nephews, Randy Archer and wife, Kitty, of Roanoke Rapids and Charles Archer and wife, Kathy, of Raleigh; great nieces, Jami Rebecca Dickens of Charlotte, NC, Kaitlyn Archer of Raleigh and Madison Rebekah Archer of Roanoke Rapids and her great nephews, Joshua Wayne Dickerson and wife, Jessica of Vernon, CT, Dr. Christopher Archer of Columbus, OH and Taylor Randolph Archer of Roanoke Rapids. Also surviving are her close friends, Ophelia Carr, Jean Thompson and Amy Fowler.

The family will receive friends Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids from 6-8 pm and other times at her niece, Pam Dickerson’s home.

Dr. Bane Angles and Rev. Randy Martin will conduct funeral services Friday, January 4, 2019 in the chapel at Askew at 11:00 am. Interment will immediately follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.

The family has requested memorial contributions be made in honor of Mrs. Lucille “Sissie” Kidd to: First Christian Church, 836 Roanoke Ave., Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870.
