John Sullivan Futrell, Jr. 75 of Woodland, NC passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021.

He was born in Northampton County in 1946 to the late John Sullivan Futrell, Sr. and Lettie Martin Futrell and was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Futrell Rawls.

John was a longtime member and deacon at Woodland Baptist Church and sang in the choir. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force for four years and spent time in England. He worked as an EMT in Woodland. John worked at Union Camp for 38 years.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth "Inez" Futrell of Woodland, his two step-sons, Lawrence Scott Davis and Darrin Davis of Woodland; his brothers, Edward Wayne Futrell and his wife, Anne D. Futrell of Murfreesboro and Robert Eugene Futrell and his wife, Paula of Sacramento, California; his nephews, Chad Rawls and his wife, Angel of Jackson, NC, Matthew Rawls of Virginia Beach, VA, Jeff Futrell of Williamston, NC and Aaron Futrell and his wife, Jessica of Sacramento California and his niece, Melissa F. Spence and her husband, Bobby of Raleigh, NC his brother-in-law Ricky Rawls in Greenville, NC as well as many numerous cousins.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Woodland Baptist Church at 3pm with Rev. Dr. J Brabban officiating.

Interment will follow in Creeksville Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Woodland Baptist Church on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 from 2pm until service time.
