Amanda Wilson Scanlon, 63 of Roanoke Rapids, NC passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. 

She was born in Cape May Court House, New Jersey to John McKinley Wilson and Mary Jane Nelson Wilson and was preceded in death by her husband, Shawn Scanlon, her sister, Georgia Mauldin and her brother Calvin Wayne Saunders.

Amanda owned her own business for many years known as Scanlon’s Speech Service. She was active for many years as a Cub Scout Leader and also involved with the Boy Scouts. Amanda was very active at All Saints Episcopal Church with hand bell ringing and she was a cyclist in the Great Cycle Challenge for many years for Cancer Research for children. 

She is survived by her son, Jack Scanlon; her step-father, Calvin H. Saunders of Wanchese, NC; her sisters, Tracy Ware and her husband, Mark of Manteo, NC, Torrie Pugh and her husband, Juwan of Oakland; and her brother, Timothy Saunders and his wife, Lisa of East Lake, NC.

Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 30, 2021 at All Saints Episcopal Church with Rev. Sonny Browne officiating. 

Inurnment will follow at the Columbarium wall at the church immediately following the service.
