Rachel Partain Mohorn 83 of Littleton passed on Saturday March 20, 2021.

Mohorn Rachel

She was born on November 24, 1937 in  Oneonta, Alabama and was the daughter of the late Melvin Thaddeous and Norine Chandler Partain. She was also preceded in death by her sister Yvonne DeMazza.

She was a graduate of Arizona State University and was a retired School teacher, spending most of her career within the Vance County School system. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Henderson for thirty plus years, and a devoted member of the choir.

She loved Church, music and her family. She enjoyed singing and played several instruments, as well as the piano.

Rachel was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, full of grace and beauty in everything she did from singing to calligraphy.

She was a selfless woman who put everyone else before herself and dedicated her life to praising the lord through her talents. Her soul is finally free, but the impact of her unconditional love will never be forgotten.

Rachel was one of the sweetest women you would have ever met. One of the hardest things in life is watching someone you love with Alzheimer’s. She always gave her family little signs that she remembered them. Something as simple as one of her sweet smiles when they entered the room, and her laugh was contagious.

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Donald Royce Mohorn; her sons, Bryan Mohorn and his wife, Jane of Isle of Palm, SC and Ashley Mohorn and his wife, Melanie of Littleton; her four grandchildren Kate Mohorn, Megan Mohorn, Emily Mohorn and Nicholas Mohorn; many nieces and nephews and her special friend and caregiver Margaret Hedgepeth.

A private service was held at Bear Swamp Baptist Church on Tuesday March 23rd with Rev. David Fambrough officiating.

Interment followed in the Church Cemetery.

A Celebration of life service was also held at First Baptist Church 205 W. Winder Street in Henderson. Friends and family welcome.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bear Swamp Baptist Church 31736 NC Highway 561 Littleton, NC 27805
