Mr. Joey Weathers Davis, 66, passed away on January 5, 2020.

Mr. Davis, of Galatia, was born on July 18, 1953 in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Gilbert Thomas Davis and Meryl Warrick Davis.  He served in the United States Air Force for twenty years and retired at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. After his military service, Mr. Davis returned to Galatia to be closer to family and began working for the North Carolina Employment Security Commission. He was a member of Galatia Baptist Church where he also served as a Deacon and on the Building and Grounds Committee. Mr. Davis was known for his passion for helping others, love of hunting and horses, but particularly his family. He was preceded in death by his parents Gilbert Thomas Davis and Meryl Warrick Davis and his nephew, Ryan Davis. 

He is survived by two sons, Brandon Riley Davis and fiancé, Jennifer Taylor, of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, and Justin Wesley Davis, and wife Lora Edwards Davis, of Blowing Rock.  Five grandchildren, Rayne, Jaide, Gavin, Landon, and Rhett Davis, three siblings, brother Gary Davis and wife Paulette, sisters Sheryl Watson, and Je’Nen Thorpe and five nieces and nephews, Mark Davis, Leighanne Watson, Rachel Watson, and Sadie Thorpe. Also two great nieces, Leslie Britt and Ashlyn Davis. 

Rev. David Foster will conduct a service to remember Joey’s life Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at 10:30 am, at Galatia Baptist Church. The family will gather together to visit with friends immediately after the service in the fellowship hall.

Burial will be private.
